37. Building Bridges – homage à Oscar Pettiford

On March 6th we present the first Building Bridges event in 2019 – a live streamed simulcast performance between Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen and the Culture House in Oslo.

We open the Building Bridges event with a live streamed concert from the Culture House in Oslo with British bass player, Tim Thornton, who will bring a trio featuring Kjetil Jerve on piano and Anders Thorén on drums. Afterwards, Jesper Bodilsen brings a quartet to the stage at Montmartre featuring Claus Waidtløw on saxophone, Henrik Gunde on piano and Morten Lund behind the drums. The honoree of the first Building Bridges event in 2019 is Oscar Pettiford who was a central figure at Jazzhus Montmartre during the 60’s and 70’s. Both groups will be playing their interpretations of some of Pettiford’s compositions, as well as their own music.
