Copenhagen Jazz Festival

With some more than a thousand concerts played on over one hundred scenes, Copenhagen Jazz Festival offers a lot of great music to it's audiences. Unfortunately however, you’ll have to make some tough choices.

Among some of the concerts I went to were; Charles Lloyd and the Marvels feat. Bill Frisell with Reuben Rogers on bass and Eric Harland on drums, Jorge Rossy Trio with RJ Miller on drums and Klaus Nørgaard on bass, Katrine Madsen Group with Henrik Gunde on piano, my good friend Jesper Bodilsen on bass and Jonas Johansen on drums, Nils Landgren & Jan Lundgren Quartet with Mattias Svensson on bass and Morten Lund on drums, and Marilyn Mazur - Shamania with Josefine Cronholm vocal og percussion, Hildegunn Øiseth on trumpet and goat horn, Sissel Vera on saxophone and vocal, Christina Dahl on saxophone, Lis Wessberg on trombone, Makiko Hirabayashi on keyboards, Ellen Andrea Wang on bass and vocal, Lisbeth Diers percussion and Siri Wolthoorn as a dancer. Furthermore, I spent most nights at the late night jam sessions at Montmartre. Hence, I also got to hear Grant Stewart, Jason Marsalis and many, many others. Montmartre is the kind of club where you can sit down, lean back, close your eyes and feel, hear, and breathe in a long history of jazz music. Truly one of the cultural treasures in this world!

So, here are some of my memories from this year’s Copenhagen Jazz Festival...
